| The Great Marsh is my home landscape. After 30 years of working in this landscape, I believe that it is one of our national landscapes that holds the truth for us, and I hope, for generations to come. |

| Painting and art is my life. Early on, I worked as an architect and then as a landscape architect in urban design. Now, I travel to Europe and areas in the U.S. to study and paint. I studied at Montserrat College of Art and the Museum School in Boston, and I teach at Montserrat. |

| No matter how often I drive down the winding road to the beach, the sudden sight of marsh and water and islands comes as a complete surprise. There is a sense of aliveness and of coming to grips with the universe–such magic.

| Robert Hanlon |
 |
| Since 1986, Robert has owned Walker Creek Furniture in Essex, MA, where he designs and makes custom furniture. After years of appreciating textures and colors in the wood he handles, he began painting on wood. He fits landscapes, interior scenes, and other images to the character each piece of wood offers. |

| Art is survival. When I create, I travel inward and bring subject matters together that would otherwise never meet. I end up in a place where random thoughts collide with early memories. |

| I enjoy capturing a moment in time. I love to paint on location. It's emotional. I'll be driving around and suddenly something will just hit me, and I know it's meant to be painted. |

I'm interested in the marks that people make on the earth, similar to a cave painting or urban buildings. I try to dig backwards, and investigate and understand how people treat materials. |

| Lonnie & Twyla Money |
 |
| These two farmers from western Kentucky continue the tradition of Swiss wood carving and folk art carving in the southeastern U.S. Twyla's family has farmed in Laurel County for generations, and she and Lonnie live a mile from where she grew up. Their colorful carvings are in permanent collections and museums, as well as numerous galleries across the nation. |

| My landscapes and other subjects are painted from life. Surrounded by all the elements of light, shadow, and space in a moment of time, I find plein air painting exhilarating. |

| After 20 years working as an art director, I was hungry to return to studio art. In 2003, I studied with Catherine Kernan at the Worcester Museum of Art, and discovered unexpected surprises when I combined leaves and other organic materials into my print making. |
